This is why you should explore the world at a young age, so you know that wet green stuff typically is slippery

Aye. When I was 7 I explored a wee break wall at the beach. Found some wet green stuff myself. Slipped n cut open my whole forehead. Had stitches for weeks

I may be wrong, but I think that video was taken at San Feliciano, Italy. I live there and those stairs and the colour of the water is the same. Only thing is, if that's actually San Feliciano this video must be at least 3 years old, since the algae have gone down

This is how I almost fell into the Grand Canal in Venice thirty years ago. I didn't see the algae, and having never encountered it before I didn't think to look. I merely stepped out two steps to get a photo down the buildings and my foot shot out from the second step. As I was going in, one of my friends thought to grab my camera strap which I usually put under one arm and around my neck, and held me. I put my now wet foot back on the good stair and stepped back on solid ground and never did that again.

They did exactly what you're never supposed to do when stepping on a slipper surface. Plant the foot firmly and slightly forward from your center for gravity. It all but ensures the forces applied will push the foot forward on the slippery surface and then you will tumble.
I lived in very cold climates most of my life and I think that I take for granted how instinctually I'll move on slippery surfaces. The key is shuffling, and never placing too much weight on one foot or leg.

Spikes or felt bottoms - everything else is useless when it comes to serious slipperiness on ocean rocks. This scenario required spikes.
Edit: try split toe japanese spiked or felt tabis. They’re super agile, soft soled, thin so they prevent stumble fall. Also prevents slip-fall because your foot conforms to the rock and therefore maximizes contact.
NRS makes a similar split toe product.

There's a road junction near my house where if you're making a right hand turn from one street you cross through a drain path that tends to grow moss. When it gets built up that thing is so slick you either need really good tires or you need to barely touch your pedal or you just spin in place.
